our story
How it began: “Just before high school was over Janelle and I found ourselves at a Roosevelt party in 2011. Being from Lincoln, I felt a warm welcome by Drew and his friends. One could say it gave me confidence enough to talk to Janelle. The first date went smoothly, before I knew it weeks went by and we most certainly had fallen in love... Months went by and we had both moved to Kansas City and attended the same college. The love blossomed from there”. –Kyle
Where we are now: “After graduating in 2015, we both moved back to Des Moines for some post-college respite but then Kyle’s love for skateboarding took him to Los Angeles in 2016 and I followed in 2017. The first couple years in LA were a bit challenging; Kyle was working insane hours as a bar back at a night club and I was trying to find my footing in the nonprofit arts world. Even during the challenging times, we’ve explored Southern California together and independently through food, roadtrips, camping, and all the cultural experiences LA has to offer. I’m really proud of Kyle for keeping his videography passion alive (did you know he has made 3 full length skateboarding videos since moving here?!) and I can’t wait to see what else he creates with both video and now woodworking. Being away from our midwest friends and family can be hard, we are both so thankful to have gained new friends, experiences, and have found work that fulfills and inspires us.” –Janelle
